While completing my blanket project for this year, I already started thinking about what I want to create during 2021. This year I’ve worked on the Year of Squares Blanket, a yearlong crochet along of a blanket with 12 different crocheted squares. Designing that blanket was so much fun! So I thought why not do another blanket in 2021? I have always loved the idea of a temperature blanket…. so let’s make a temperature blanket during 2021!
What is a temperature blanket?
A temperature blanket is a handmade blanket with different colors. You will usually crochet a number of rows each day during one full year. The temperature of that day will decide which color you will use. At the end of the year you have a beautiful blanket! Before you start making your blanket, you will choose the yarn and colors that you are going to work with. You will also have to decide what colors you are going to use for warmer, and colder temperatures.
How do you make a temperature blanket?
Making a temperature blanket is not hard. It is an easy, fun, yearlong project! This is how you make a temperature blanket:
- Decide what pattern you are going to use.
- Choose yarn and colors that you like.
- Research the temperature range in the area where you live.
- Make a color thermometer.
- Crochet a swatch to check your gauge.
- Write down the temperature each day and start making your blanket.
All the steps above are clearly explained in the crochet pattern for the Temperature Blanket 2021. Get the crochet pattern on Ravelry or LoveCrafts and start planning your temperature blanket!
Crochet pattern temperature blanket 2021
I will start crocheting my temperature blanket on January 1st, 2021. For the blanket I will be using the granny stripe stitch. I have divided the blanket in 5 strips, that’s 73 days for each strip. At the end of the year I will join the strips together, and crochet an edge. I’m so excited for this project! Will you crochet along?
