Colorful Squares Blanket Crochet Along 2022

Are your ready for yet another amazing blanket crochet along? The Colorful Squares Blanket Crochet Along started on January 3rd, 2022! This crochet project is a pattern series by Marjan from Hobbydingen. Every month of 2022, two crochet patterns for squares were published. With 24 different squares you can create a beautiful and textured blanket! On this page you will find all the information for the CAL(crochet along) and links to the crochet patterns.

Colorful Squares Blanket

In 2022 we published 24 different crochet patterns for squares. Each month two new crochet patterns were shared. All the squares measure 15x15cm/6x6in after blocking and have a different stitch pattern or combination of different crochet stitches. At the end of the crochet along all the squares will be joined together to make a beautiful blanket with 48 colorful squares or a baby blanket with 24 squares. The blanket measures 98x128cm/39¼x51¼in and the baby blanket measures 68x98cm/27¼x39¼in.

Materials you will need to make the blanket:

Yarn:

For the Colorful Squares Blanket I will be using Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/6 (100% cotton; 50g/105m or 1.75oz/115yd; DK weight). I will roughly be using ½ ball of yarn for each square (that’s a total of 24 balls for the squares for the regular size blanket or 12 balls for the squares for the baby blanket) and 4 balls for joining and the edge. Detailed information about the amount of yarn used for each square will be listed in each individual pattern and in the eBook.

Colors that I will be using: For the squares: 2x Dark Grey (011), 2x Light Grey (016), 2x Delicate Light Blue (026), 3x Petrol Blue (035), 3x Light Petrol Blue (077), 3x Steel Blue (078), 3x Mist (097), 4x Dark Teal (091) & 2x Sage Green (098). For join & edge: 4x Pearl Gray (073) and leftover yarn from the squares.

Color combination 1 (fun & vibrant mix): For the squares: 4x Candyfloss (093), 4x Light Coral (050), 4x Burnt Orange (066), 4x Powder Rose (063), 4x Apricot (065) & 4x Curry (056). For join & edge: 4x Mist (097) and leftover yarn from the squares.

Color combination 2 (inspired by forests, mountains and lakes): For the squares: 4x Sage Green (098), 4x Dark Grey (011), 4x Dark Teal (091), 4x Light Petrol Blue (077), 4x Steel Blue (098) & 4x Delicate Light blue (026). For join & edge: 4x Mist (097) and leftover yarn from the squares.

*For a baby blanket you will roughly need: For the squares: 2x 6 colors. For join & edge: 3x 1 color and leftover yarn from the squares.

Other materials:

In addition to the yarn, you will also need crochet hooks (in different sizes), a darning needle for weaving in all the ends, scissors, stitch markers and materials to block the squares.
